CHRISTMAS DAY AT CUBITT HOUSE

A pretty special day of the year and we'd love you to celebrate with us. Treat yourself this Christmas and book your table. You deserve it!

There’s no need to go through the blood, sweat and tears this Christmas. Let us do the hard work for you. Have the perfect Christmas morning and maybe even a lie in? No need to get up at the crack of dawn to stuff the turkey and get it in the oven or maybe it’s the peeling of the potatoes or the battle to make a brussel sprout delicious (it’s possible we promise you) that’s your particular dread, whatever it is, don’t do it, just sit back and relax.

Five of our central London pubs are open this Christmas day. The Alfred Tennyson, The Grazing Goat, The Orange, The Princess Royal and The Thomas Cubitt. The fires will be lit, the champagne on ice and the Christmas puddings steaming to perfection. 

Our chef director Ben Tish and the rest of the chef team have put together a menu that leaves no stone unturned making the very best use of all the fantastic produce from our suppliers around the country.

“We want your day to be your home from home without the hard work and cooking;  our menus are designed to straddle the homely, unfussy and familiar with a touch of luxury.”

As Ben explains: “The menu is a blend of British  Christmas classics (think Norfolk Bronze Turkey with all the seasonal trimmings and our own homemade Christmas puddings)  and contemporary twists on French classics. My favourite being the Scallops with Delica pumpkins and the Beef and Porcini Wellington. There’s also the Mont Blanc tart with Chestnuts, Meringue and Chocolate.”

For the main bar area at The Orange, @georgie_pearman chose the colour ‘Clove’ created by interior designer Edward Bulmer. A spicy warm beige packed full of natural pigments to heat it up and really wrap the colour around the space.
This complex and grounding neutral perfectly complements the convivial atmosphere of the pub’s central space.

This month's #DishWithTish is a delicious Summer salad of roasted peach, pistachio, mint, dill, watercress and salted sheep’s cheese.

Inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean with contrasting flavours and textures. Roasting peaches this way intensifies their natural sweetness and flavour (it’s also good with ice-cream!)

Chef Director, @ben.tish says - ‘I like to layer this on a platter as opposed to a bowl for a visually beautiful presentation- a centrepiece even. Excellent with grilled pork or lamb'

As Founder and Director of Edward Bulmer Natural Paint, Edward is an expert at mixing beautiful and sustainable paint colours with natural pigments. With his London shop located just across the road from The Orange, it was only fitting that we invited him to collaborate on our recent refresh.
