A unique and fun place to stay, there’s nowhere better to escape the humdrum of daily life in London as part of a staycation, or to make your base when visiting the capital, than a pub with rooms like ours. Upstairs feels like a boutique hotel, yet with the pub just a floor below, it’s easy to socialise whenever you want. It’s a win-win! Here are just some of the reasons why you should choose The Princess Royal for your next trip…
Great British design throughout
We like to fly the flag for the best of British here – after all, what’s more British than a pub? – so it’s no surprise that we’ve kitted out the pub and hotel with pieces by local artisans and designers. From the botanical toiletries from 100 Acres and fine British bathroom design by Lefroy Brooks, to the luxurious beds by The Cotswold Bed Company, to the bright tiles from Bert & May, and the vibrant and quirky artwork, nothing is from a million miles away, which makes replicating the look at home all the more simple.
An amazing location in Notting Hill
Locals and tourists alike love the vibrant neighbourhood of Notting Hill, made famous by the 1999 film of the same name starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. Known for its vintage and antique stores, the weekly Portobello Market is a great place to stock up on everything from clothes to artworks, while the annual Notting Hill Carnival sees the streets come alive with reggae music. The Princess Royal is conveniently located on a quiet road a 12-minute walk from the Tube station, so you’re close to the action without it feeling too hectic. Notting Hill Gate is ideally situated on the Central Line as well as the Circle and District Lines, so you can get into central London super quickly too.
Pubs are a charming place to stay
We pride our pubs on being welcoming and social places, with cosy corners to catch up with friends. The Princess Royal serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a Mediterranean-inspired menu, and also boasts a light-filled and airy conservatory, perfect for all weathers, from dramatic stormy days to sun-drenched ones. In the summer, the terraces, designed by Jinny Blom, are great places to enjoy a cocktail and our signature Princess Parmegiana – close your eyes and you could be in Italy (but why would you want to be, when you’re in the heart of London?)
Great private spaces to hire
Whether you’re in London to celebrate a wedding, birthday or other milestones, or need a space to host a work party (or conference, we’ve got all the audio-visual gear to hand), we’ve got two great rooms to hire exclusively. The Charlotte is perfect for intimate gatherings of up to 10 to sit down or 15 for drinks and canapés, with the added bonus of a fireplace – a quintessential pub staple! For a larger group of up to 20, there’s The Victoria, with its chandeliers and outdoor terrace – ideal if the weather behaves itself…
Super cosy bedrooms and bathrooms
Each of our four bedrooms is decorated individually, full of character as well as comfort, including Emperor or King Size bedrooms, plus bathrooms stocked full of botanical toiletries. They aren’t your usual pub rooms – you’re more likely to find designs like this in a luxury hotel. Just pick your favourite Princess (each room is named after one from the Royal Family’s history books), put your feet up and relax.
