For the first time, the FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States. Matches will be played across 16 host cities, with the tournament opening in Mexico City and culminating in the final in New York New Jersey.

The 2026 tournament marks the first World Cup to feature 48 national teams, expanding from the previous format of 32 teams. This means more matches, more nations and more opportunities for memorable upsets.
