Neighbourhood Watch: Marylebone

Our local guide to Marylebone, London gives you a snapshot of this charming and upscale neighborhood located in the heart of London. We take a look at the best things to see and do in Marylebone, specifically the streets around our iconic London pubs —The Coach Makers Arms and The Grazing Goat—that call this area home. Marylebone has it all, from the chicest shops, cafés and restaurants to the bright lights of the West End.

WHERE TO EAT IN MARYLEBONE

The Grazing Goat
New Quebec Street is home to The Grazing Goat and it is its own little haven of peace away from the hustle and bustle. You can get to all of what London has to offer, on foot, right from our front door. Layers of a country pub with a bar, restaurant and rooms, The Grazing Goat is open from breakfast through to dinner. If you’re looking for an alternative to a hotel in Marylebone, our eight cosy and wonderful bedrooms make you feel right at home in Central London.

The Coach Makers Arms
A proper handsome Victorian boozer and a Marylebone drinking destination with a sophisticated Chop House style restaurant on the 1st floor. There’s also our basement speakeasy cocktail bar — The Clubhouse. The Coach Makers Arms is in the heart of Marylebone village with its collection of independent shops and community feel, even though it’s in the heart of the West End. See our executive chef director Ben Tish and The Coach Makers Head Chef, Stuart McLaney on their foodie tour of Marylebone Village here.

Paul Roethe & Son
Probably one of the best sandwich shops in London is right next door to The Coach Makers Arms and it has been run by the same family since 1900 – a Marylebone institution.

The Ginger Pig

La Fromagerie
A truly special cheese shop dedicated to seasonal fruit and vegetables, offering an extensive selection of treats that can all be complemented by their signature Cheese Room.

Ottolenghi
The famous Ottolenghi deli. Their Marylebone outpost is largely a take-away. They sure know a thing or two about window displays and it’s almost impossible just to walk past. Guests are welcome to dine in at their unique nine-seat communal table, which is available on a walk-in basis.

THINGS TO DO IN MARYLEBONE

Hyde Park
A huge expanse of space in central London with hidden little corners everywhere as well as places to just relax. With the Lido, The Serpentine and of course Winter Wonderland, there’s a lot going on too.

The Wallace Collection
A celebrated and outstanding, but manageable, collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture and armour in the beautiful Hertford House on Manchester Square, just around the corner from The Grazing Goat and The Coach Makers Arms.
